心输出量测定仪：Cardiotherm 400R

Cardiac Output Computer: Cardiotherm 400R
Columbus Instruments manufactures a specialized line of thermodilution based cardiac output computers for use in laboratory animals. Unique to our cardiac output computers is their support for the Columbus Instruments'' Microprobe series of sensors employed in the measurement of cardiac output in small laboratory rodents.
Cardiotherm-400R is Columbus Instruments most basic instrument for cardiac output measurements in small animals by the thermodilution process. During the procedure, room temperature or iced saline or glucose is injected into the right heart where it mixes with subject blood. The resulting change in temperature is sensed in either the pulmonary artery or in the aorta (in small animals). The passage of the mixed blood/indicator by the measurement site creates a dilution curve representing the change in temperature. The area bound by the curve is inversely proportional to the volume of blood passing the detection site. Cardiotherm-400R uses this information to calculate cardiac output formatted in either liters or milliliters per minute.
Microprobes are available in sizes that range from use in mice to rabbits. Microprobes are strictly for sensing. They do not contain additional ports for either injection or temperature sensing. In practice, the tip of the probe is placed in the aortic arch via canulation of the carotid artery. A second canulation site, usually the jugular vein, is employed as an entry point for injection of saline into the right side of the heart. Microprobes are available for acute and chronic studies. Implantable Microprobes are sized such that they can be place in the aorta and the opposite end excised behind the neck where a small connector is accessed in preparation for making cardiac output measurements.
