OriGen CryoPur Cryopreservation Solutions
Intended Use: OriGen CryoPur solutions are intended for use as a
cryopreservative media with synthesized cell cultures.
Single use only: Multiple draws may be made from one vial using the VSV
adapter, but do not reuse DMSO which has been exposed to cells or tissue.
Sterile:. Sterilized by aseptic filtration. Do not use if not sealed.
Storage:
DMSO: Store in a dark well ventilated area, freezes (solidifies)
at18°C. Recommended storage at 20-30°C.
DMSO/Dextran: Store refrigerated: +2 to +8°C
Product Description: Dimethyl Sulfoxide (C2H6OS - DMSO) is a
clear essentially odorless, hygroscopic, water-miscible liquid.
Product Configuration: DMSO and DMSO/Dextran products are

Cryoprotectant Mechanism: DMSO freely permeates the cell and
mixes with water inside the cell, depressing the freezing point of the
water contained inside the cell. As the temperature decreases during
the freezing cycle, expansion of ice crystals is inhibited, and the cell
is protected from bursting. DMSO has been used to preserve a
variety of cell types, including human bone marrow2, ovarian tissue3,
pancreatic and platelet cells4, and hematopoietic stem cells5.
Caution, Toxic: Because heat is generated when DMSO is mixed
with water, it should not be added directly to the cells.
Caution, Aggressive: DMSO is a highly polar organic solvent, and is
aggressive against many commonly used plastics (ABS, PVC, PC,
etc). Degradation of your bag and tubing may occur, and unwanted
byproducts may be released into the sample. OriGen can supply
freezing bags and transfer sets that are resistant to 100% DMSO.

Purmorphamine: an agonist of SMO (smoothened). This small molecule compound activates the hedgehog pathway by directly binding to SMO. It has been shown to induce osteogenesis of mesenchymal stem cells.

Purity: Greater than 98% as determined by LC/MS analysis. LC/MS and/or NMR data available upon request.
Biological Activity: In a cell-based assay measuring the activation of the Gli-1 reporter gene, this compound gives EC50 of 1.0 uM.
