This rat IgG monoclonal antibody was generated against polysaccharide and recognizes land plants pectic polysaccharide, homogalacturonan.

Highlights:

The antibody recognizes the homogalacturonan domain of pectic polysaccharides. It has no known cross-reactivity with other polymers. It can recognize pectic polysaccharides in several species. The antibody recognizes partially methyl-esterified epitopes of homogalacturonan and can also bind to un-esterified homogalacturonan. Homogalacturonan is a pectic polysaccharide made up of α-1,4 linked galacturonic acid residues. Pectin is made up of a complex set of polysaccharides that are found in most primary cell walls and are particularly abundant in the non-woody parts of terrestrial plants. Pectin is a major component of the middle lamella, where it helps to bind cells together, but is also found in primary cell walls.
