Traditional hygiene inspection methods do not always meet the needs of the consumer both in terms of accuracy and speed of identification. HKDNA have developed methods, using PCR technology, to rapidly and reliably identify common pathogens within various foods.
Norovirus causes gastroenteritis and is one of the most common viral infections experienced in today's society, second only to the cold. Routinely infection can occur from contaminated food products, such as shellfish (e.g. oyster or scallop). Using RT-PCR we can accurately and rapidly identify if a sample contains nucleic acid relating to Norovirus allowing swift action to prevent public consumption.
More food safety detection methods are being developed aimed at targeting other food-borne viruses. Please contact us for more information.
